Photographic Analysis is an important part of the every day routine carried out by investigators at UPIA & MAPIT. We currently recieve around 600 - 1000 photographs per year. We analyse all forms of photography which include standard SLR and non SLR, digital, Mobile Phone & CCTV Grabs and even polaroid. If you have taken a photograph of something strange, then please feel free to send it to us for analysis.
Submitting your photograph for analysis could not be any easier. No matter if the photograph was taken on a SLR Camera, 110 Camera, Digital Camera, Polaroid Camera or even a Mobile Phone Camera. Simply follow the steps below...
When submitting a photograph for analysis it is necessary to provide certain information such as:
1. The Make and Model of the camera.
2. How old the camera is.
3. Focal lens type, setting and appeture / speed setting.
4. Camera strap used or tripod.
5. Weather conditions at the time the photograph was taken.
6. Time, Date and Location of photograph.
7. If photograph was taken indoors, Please describe the location.
8. Film type, length, make and age.
9. Any flash, filters or special techniques used.
10. Does the photographer smoke or have long hair.
11. Direction camera was pointing.
12. New or used batteries.
Please provide any additional information that may assist us with our conclusion such as, witnesses to the event, other photographs taken on a different camera. It is important to provide three original photographs and three original negatives such as, the affected photo and the one taken before and after. This also applies to the negatives.

Please provide any additional information that may assist us with our conclusion such as, witnesses to the event, other photographs taken on a different camera. It is important to provide the original photograph file and one other that was taken around the same time.
In the case of submitting Polaroid photographs, it is necessary to provide the following:
1. The make and model of camera.
2. How old the camera is.
3. Focal lens setting and appeture (if applicable).
4. Camera strap used or tripod.
5. Weather conditions at the time the photograph was taken.
6. Time, Date and Location of photograph.
7. Any flash, filters or special techniques used.
8. Does the photographer smoke or have long hair.
9. Direction camera was pointing.
10. New or used batteries.
11. Make, model and age of cartridge.
12. Number of photographs cartridge holds.
Please provide any additional information that may assist us with our conclusion such as, witnesses to the event, other photographs taken on a different camera. It is important to provide the original photograph and one other that was taken around the same time. Also please provide the spent cartridge.
