Video Analysis

Video analysis is an ever growing subject with the community of paranormal investigation. New methodology and cutting edge software are required if professional opinions are required. UPIA & MAPIT receive many pieces of video showing what is presumed to be something paranormal or ufological. A thorough analysis is performed on all forms of video such as VHS, Hi 8, Mini Tape, Digital Discs, HDD, Mobile Phone footage and even CCTV. When submitting a piece of video for analysis it is necessary to provide certain information such as:

  1. The Make and Model of the camera or CCTV System.
  2. How old the camera or system is.
  3. Frame Rate and Format.
  4. Standard Colour, Black & White, Infra-Red, Ultra-Violet or Thermal.
  5. Weather conditions at the time the video was taken.
  6. Time, Date and Location of video footage.
  7. If video footage was taken indoors, Please describe the location.
  8. Footage stored on Disc, Tape, HDD, Flash Drive / Memory Stick. (Disc or Tape make and model).
  9. Area lit, filters used or special techniques.
10. Length of footage.
11. Direction camera was pointing.
12. New or used batteries (If Applicable).
13. Range or camera setting (If Applicable).
14. Camera was held or tripod used.
15. Is there audio with the video footage.
16. Other devices used, IR Extenders, Motion Detection etc.

Please provide any additional information that may assist us with our conclusion such as, witnesses to the event, other video footage taken on a different camera or system. It is important to provide the original video. (In some cases we accept the fact that a single duplication is required to remove video footage off HDD etc).
